Rockit Vocal Studio's Simple Vocal Warm Up and Wake Up!
Some basics to help you immediately use your voice in a healthy and productive way.
Thank you for your interest in the Rockit Vocal Studios community!
I wanted to provide a very simple warm up program for you to follow along with, that is quick and effective and requires no previous experience.
The exercises are simple and effective and will prepare your voice to sing right away.
Keep in mind that this is not as comprehensive as our full vocal work but it is a simple start to get your voice woken up and ready to sing! Remember to always make sure any vocal exercises feel comfortable and relaxed. Tension and pain is a sign you are doing something wrong.
Keep following for more detailed workouts and technique training to increase range, build stamina and develop your overall sound.
Please contact me at any time if you have questions regarding the exercises, at [email protected]
Contact the studio if you would like to book a one on one session or check out the website for upcoming group courses or events.
In this course we are going to look at 3 simple workouts that will get you ready to sing. Follow along with the audio and have some fun! Don't judge your voice or sound harshly, remember, it's just a warm up and exploration of your instrument. Fine tuning comes later!
The 3 main points we will focus on are:
1: Breathing and waking up the lungs
2: Gentle vocalization
3: Connecting resonance
Nice to meet you! My name is Emma, and I am the head vocal coach and owner of Rockit Vocal Studios.
I am originally from London, England and have what I would like to call a fairly rich musical background. I grew up surrounded by music primarily, classic rock with close ties to bands such as Deep Purple, The Who and The Spencer Davis Group. My family home was in fact a recording studio where many of these bands and associated artists would frequently be seen recording or visiting.
I always knew music would be a big part of my life, and began pursuing as much knowledge on the subject as I could at an early age.
After taking ”regular” singing, piano and guitar lessons, I was enthusiastic to learn more about my voice so I could apply the techniques to the styles I was more passionate about. As a teenager, I struggled with trying to find the right teachers that were willing to teach me how to sing, but not be so rigid and theory focused.
Finally at The London Music School I found my voice. The teachers encouraged creativity, exploration of music and the development of so many different skills that some of the more theoretical and overly structured teachers refused to go near.
After graduation I started teaching workshops at the London Music School, and went on to teach in schools, and privately. I also went on to record several albums, as well as provide session vocals for The Rolling Stone’s “Symphonic Stones” and many other collaborations, including a live performance at Abbey Road Studios. I have also performed across the country with various bands and artists. Always on a mission to learn more about singing and the voice, as well as develop her teaching abilities, I traveled to Nashville to train with Brett Manning and more recently Ron Anderson in Los Angeles to further develop my skills. I am currently working on developing my vocal and teaching skills with my amazing mentor Tamara Beatty, the vocal coach on NBCs The Voice.
I am also experienced in vocal production and arrangement for studio and live performance and I love working on location in studio consulting and assisting clients while they record their albums.
My awesome clients include singers of all levels raging from top 20 Canadian recording artists to beginners.
I have over 20 years experience in teaching all ages and experience levels in ALL styles of singing and vocal performance and I can't wait to share my knowledge with you, to help you achieve your vocal goals, quickly, effectively, safely and without spending a total fortune!
